Climbing Walls

There are just two commercial walls of any note in Cyprus. One is based in Nicosia, associated with the climbing shop On Step Further.

The other is a few km outside of Limassol, on the edge of the Kalavassos village. It is in the grounds of a country club (once the Elias country club) and riding stables and is of a reasonable size. Unfortunately, although a new wall, on the author's last visit it was suffering from a few teething problems. It's based on a plywood structure, which hasn't been treated appropriately with friction paint. Consequently, pretty much every other hold tends to spin, which makes the risk of injury quite high. The lead routes which don't have in-situ ropes don't have lower offs fixed - which makes them a tad useless. It is also quite expensive (you even have to pay for parking and lighting!). If you have information which suggests these issues have been fixed then please let us know so that we can amend this entry.
